Holiday Mini-Sessions, Round One | Frederick, Maryland Family Photographer

A few highlights from my first day of Holiday Mini-Sessions… a beautiful day with four beautiful famililes.  :)

Let the holiday season begin! | Frederick, Maryland Family Photographer

Last weekend kicked-off what I affectionately call my crazy season; five family sessions in two days, perfect weather, and lots of hilarious kids, sweet babies, and even former students of mine (who may or may not be waaaay taller than me now)!  Between this special season in my photography, football, pumpkin patch visits, and trick-or-treating around the corner, I am officially blissed out.  *sigh*

The Yi family kept me smiling on Saturday afternoon; these sweet kids brought along their huge smiles and even some special toys to include in their images.  J. brought his awesome airplane and C. toted her talking, stuffed panda along the way.  You’ll notice that panda is missing from most of the shots here because he was busy helping me operate my camera.   ;)   C. thought Panda would like some individual portraits, too, so she helped me take a few.

Much love to the Yi family for inviting me to capture these portraits for you!

Together | Frederick, Maryland Family Photographer

I absolutely adore this family, truly I do.  Strolling the historical streets of downtown Frederick on a crisp fall afternoon can hardly be described as work, especially when you’re enjoying time with a family like the Purcells.  A year ago this month, they welcomed a fifth addition to their family, and as a photographer, that means even more Purcell cuteness to capture now!  The love this family shares for each other is truly unique; capturing their smiles and the tightly-knit bond they share is always enjoyable for me. Much love to the Purcell family for inviting me to capture these images for you!

Zack, Middletown High School | Frederick, Maryland Senior Portrait Photographer

Zack and his family met me after cross-country practice for this shoot in downtown Frederick…I love all of the wonderful colors and textures in the city! Zack just began his senior year at Middletown High School.

Lots of love to the B. family for such a fun evening…and for hanging with me as we walked the town until the sun went down!

Holiday Mini-Sessions Announcement!

Christmas in July!? Well, of course!

I’ve scheduled two dates for holiday mini-sessions this year, both in late October and both in gorgeous downtown Frederick. These are shorter, 30-minute sessions that include family portraits and individual shots of your children (and pets, if you want!). Expect 10-12 proofed images in a private, online gallery following your session and the specialty items detailed within your selected package. You’ll also get to enjoy a 10% discount on additional holiday cards and specialty items, including professional prints and digital files on CD.

Please contact me soon to reserve your family’s spot; two spots have already been filled!

Treat your family to this special gift this year!

A Walk in the Park | Frederick, Maryland Family Photographer

An evening session this weekend combined some of my favorite things…photography, downtown Frederick, meeting a new family, and the sounds of live music. Can I really call this a ‘job’?!

Meet the incredible Paulsgrove family, who drove from West Virginia to meet me in Baker Park on Sunday. Baker Park is such a versatile space for family portraits; a covered bridge, bell tower, weeping willows, rustic doors, stone walls, and gorgeous row homes all in one walkable space!

Much love to the Paulsgroves for inviting me to capture these images of your family…thank you for such a special night!

7:00 on Sunday | Frederick, Maryland Portrait Photographer

So, this post is late for good reason. After a whirlwind trip to Massachusetts and back to Maryland in two days, I’ve been playing a bit of catch up.

So this is who all the fuss is about in my famiy–and rightfully so! Meet Luke Christopher, my adorable new nephew. He is such a snuggler! I think Luke really enjoyed his newborn portrait session with Aunt Crissie on Sunday; he was a cooperative subject and slept for hours afterward.

This image was captured right around 7:00 p.m.. Pictured is my wonderful brother-in-law Steve, enjoying some lounge time with Luke. I love the perspective captured here; Steve is a former college basketball player who is juuuuuusst a few inches taller than me, you’d say. Luke is holding his own right now at 22.5 inches. I’m thinking he may be taller than Dad one day…maybe.

Lots of love to Molly and Steve for welcoming me into their home during this amazing (and tiring!) new chapter in their lives. Love to both of you…so happy I’m Luke’s Aunt!

Lauren, Brunswick High School :: Frederick, Maryland Portrait Photographer

Four years ago, this gorgeous girl sat in my 5th grade classroom, bright-eyed and eager to learn. She was a teacher’s dream–positive attitude, a friend to everyone, contageous smile, driven to learn, and has amazing parents, to boot. Fast forward, and you’re looking at that same terrific smile, albeit a little older now. Lauren enters her Freshman year at Brunswick High this fall and wanted to celebrate this milestone in her life with some fun portraits.

This is What Courage Looks Like | Frederick, Maryland Family Photographer

Carrie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblast Leukemia in September 2008, after months of what she described to me as constant fatigue. On a typical weekday morning, she collapsed in her driveway before leaving to take her children to school and herself to work. Tests were run, scans were taken, and the Legge family’s life was forever changed. She was rushed to Johns Hopkins for immediate treatment.

Carrie remained at Johns Hopkins for chemo treatments and a bone marrow transplant for six months, returning home to her husband and children in March 2009. Carrie and family are now celebrating 100% remission of her illness.

It’s no wonder why this amazing family was nominated for a portrait session during my “Giving is Awesome” campaign. The Legge family shares a tightly-knit bond that is secured by their faith in God and their deep love for one another. They are a shining example of courage; four gorgeous children who missed their mom tremendously while she underwent treatment, a father balancing his time between his children and his wife, and a mother fighting to return home to her family.

Our session was filled with tons of laughter and smiles; the kids even brought a soccer ball, football, and baseball to throw around in-between shots. I didn’t even have to encourage them to get closer to one another while I shot family photographs. One courageous family, closer than ever.
